Kurnool: A 28-year-old married man was seriously injured when his father suddenly attacked him with a knife at Allagadda Town in the early hours on Wednesday.

The injured who has been identified as Harsha Vardhan was immediately rushed to Allagadda government general hospital for treatment. The cops on learning about the incident reached the hospital and recorded his statement. According to information, Harsha Vardhan accompanied by his father, Srinivasa Achari, went on jogging to Allagadda bypass Road. While the duo were jogging, Harsha Vardhan was suddenly attacked with a knife by his father.

Shocked by the unexpected attack from his father, Harsha Vardhan however managed to escape and reached the government hospital.

According to police, three years ago, Harsha Vardhan has married a girl, his maternal aunt's daughter, against the will of his family members. After the marriage, the couple was staying at Gulbarga in Karnataka State. Srinivasa Achari felt insulted and reportedly wanted to see that his son got separate from his wife. After hatching a plan, he reunited with his son on the pretext to perform his marriage with the girl again after inviting relatives of both families.

Accordingly, he called his son and also fixed marriage with same girl and which was scheduled to be held on January 8 (Friday). In the meantime, Srinivasa Achari hatched another plan. He felt that if Harsha Vardhan was attacked, then charges could be leveled against the girl's family members. Then Harsha Vardhan will hate them and the marriage will come to an end.

With the thought he accompanied his son for jogging. As planned he took a knife with him and after confirming that no one was around, he took out the weapon and stabbed Harsha Vardhan. Aghast with the unexpected attack, Harsha Vardhan managed to escape to reach government general hospital. The hospital authorities lodged a complaint with the police. The police recorded the statement of the victim and took Srinivasa Achari into custody.

Sub-Inspector of Allagadda police station, Rami Reddy, told The Hans India that, Srinivasa Achari was suffering with mental illness.

Actually he wanted to commit suicide but unintentionally he had attacked his own son Harsha Vardhan. "We have registered a case under IPC Section-324 based on the complaint lodged by Harsha Vardhan, said the SI. The victim received minor injuries and he was discharged after first aid.
