Kurnool: Collector G Veera Pandiyan inspects rain-affected areas
District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan on Friday made a whirlwind tour at Nandyal, Allagadda, Banaganapalle , Dhone and other areas in the district which were badly affected by the incessant rains which occurred on Thursday night
Kurnool: District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan on Friday made a whirlwind tour at Nandyal, Allagadda, Banaganapalle , Dhone and other areas in the district which were badly affected by the incessant rains which occurred on Thursday night.
He visited Rathnapalle village in Veldurthy where the flood water has submerged some areas. He also inspected Yellamma Vagu (stream) that was overflowing.
He called upon the Veldurthy Tahsildar Rajini Kumari and enquired about the situation. He ordered that necessary steps be taken to prevent water entering into the village. He suggested the officials to take up widening of stream works under National Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) Scheme.
He also visited Nandyal, Allagadda and Banaganapalle. Several low lying areas in Nandyal were submerged by the flood waters.
The drains and culverts were seen clogged with waste and as a result, the rain water was seen overflowing on to the roads. He ordered the officials concerned to take up clearing works on war footing basis.
