Kurnool: Dr P Chandrasekhar, Principal of Kurnool Government General Hospital Medical College said that Dr Atchutha is the first woman to donate plasma in State.

He said to media persons here on Thursday that she is a house surgeon and was treated for Covid virus. While discharging duties at gynaec ward, she was affected with the virus. However Dr Achutha was recovered from the dreaded virus.

Initially, she feared to donate her plasma. But her parents encouraged and doctors also extended moral support. With this, she came forward to donate plasma. Six persons have donated their plasma and Dr Achutha is the first woman in Andhra Pradesh who has come forward to donate plasma, said Dr Chandrasekhar.

He further said that people have to take precautionary measures to keep away from the dreaded virus. To prevent spread of virus, everyone has to wear masks, use sanitisers and maintain social distance, he said.

Kurnool MLA, MA Hafeez Khan said that Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has constituted a committee to prevent spread of corona virus. He said the people who have recovered from corona, have to come forward to donate plasma.

Hospital superintendent, Dr Narendranath Reddy, CSRMO, Dr Sri Hari, Dr Praveen, Pathology head Dr Baleeshwari, Dr Srinivasulu and others participated.
