Kurnool: District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan said that farmers are preparing for sowing seeds as the district started receiving rains.

He directed the Agriculture Officers (AOs) and Scientists to create awareness among farmers and encourage them to conduct soil test, usage of quality seeds and about crop yield. Veera Pandiyan addressed agriculture pre advisory board meeting at Sunaina Auditorium here on Thursday.

On the occasion, the Collector said more rains are expected from June 8. The officials have to educate about advanced farming techniques and about natural farming.

The officials have to educate the farmers about less investments, to get better crop yields and about the usage of natural manure instead of chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

The officials were also instructed that they should motivate the farmers about the usage of available resources and reap good results. The Rythu Bharosa Kendrams have to function like knowledge resource centres.

The officials are also asked to identify the responsibilities of farmers, farmer organisations and water management organisations.

Joint Collector, Patanshetty Ravi Subash, Trainee Assistant Collector, Nidhi Meena, Joint Director of Agriculture, Wilson, the officials of agriculture and its allied sectors, marketing and farmers attended the meeting.
