Kurnool: Tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya expressed concern that opposition YSRCP leaders who threatened to 'show what actual violence will be' would unleash terror in the otherwise Allagadda constituency. She also came down heavily on the police for their inability to control violence during polls on Thursday.

Addressing the media at her residence in Allagadda on Friday, she alleged that police had failed to take precautionary measures despite knowing well that untoward incidents were likely to take place during the polling. Citing the Thursday's incident, Akhila Priya said, "Though I have filed a complaint on the attackers, I don't see justice would be rendered."

She said their rivals were trying to terrorise the people of Allagadda taking the advantage of absence of her parents Bhuma Nagi Reddy and Shoba Nagi Reddy but she would not allow it to happen. Expressing her faith in her party cadre, said they were her strength and would not let any untoward incident take place in Allagadda.

When contacted, Allagadda DSP J Tippe Swamy said cases were registered against 40 persons in connection with the violent incidents in the constituency on Thursday and maintained that all the accused would be arrested soon.

Reacting to the allegations made by Akhila Priya, he said that they had done their duty with utmost responsibility but some unfortunate incident had occurred and added that they had been able to bring the situation under control.

Tippe Swamy said four persons were injured during the violence in the constituency apart from two police personnel who were hurt in stone pelting by the mob. Even Akhila Priya's sister, Mounika Reddy and an independent candidate too received minor injuries, he added.
