Modi's policies bringing a crisis in India's economy: CPI

Ongole: The secretary of the Andhra Pradesh unit of Communist Party of India, K Ramakrishna alleged that the policies being taken up by the Narendra Modi government are helping corporate companies but creating a crisis to the nation's economy. He participated in the CPI district executive committee meeting in Ongole on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, Ramakrishna said that they are organizing similar executive meetings in all districts up to this month-end, to strengthen the party. He demanded that a national level discussion should be done reviewing the policies of the Narendra Modi's government, which are causing a crisis in all fields. He mentioned that the due to the crisis in agriculture and production fields, it has recorded only 2 per cent and 0.6 per cent of the growth in the last quarter whereas they are 5.2 and 12 per cent respectively in the last year for the same period. He said that the central government has left the Andhra People to their fate and discriminating the public. He said that the people of Telugu states lost State Bank of Hyderabad earlier and now it's time for the Andhra Bank and they are shifting the head offices to Mumbai. He alleged that after the earlier merger of banks, about 9000 branches of the nationalized banks were closed down in the rural areas, affecting the farmers and SMEs in there.

Ramakrishna also alleged that the fate of farmers in the state is left to the mercy of drought. He said that farmers even Kurnool, Kadapa, Chittoor, Nellore, and Prakasam are facing severe drought and crops are withered, while the farmers who received crop in the other districts are unable to get a good price to their product. He demanded the chief minister to take a decision on providing relief to the farmers in the cabinet meeting. He demanded the government to release 20TMC extra water to the Prakasam farmers to cultivate paddy, than leaving the water to meet the sea. He alleged that the Jaganmohan Reddy government is making controversies out of nothing at Amaravati, Polavaram, sand policy, etc and damaged the livelihood of construction workers. He advised the government to come out of the confusion immediately and make public friendly decisions.
