Collector says the government is presenting awards to students in the name of Abdul Kalam and wished the youth to take him as inspiration to go ahead in the science and technology field.

Ongole: Former President APJ Abdul Kalam has brought name and fame to the country by his works and everyone should take him as inspiration to come up in life, said Prakasam District Collector Dr Pola Bhaskara.

Participating in Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar Awards distribution to the toppers in SSC, Intermediate, degree and technical education from the district on Monday, the Collector said that though Abdul Kalam was born into a poor family at Rameswaram village of Tamil Nadu, he scaled greater heights in research, supported the country by making missiles and became one of the great scientists in the world. He said the State government was presenting awards to students in the name of Abdul Kalam and wished the youth to take him as inspiration to go ahead in the science and technology field. He said knowledge, sacrament, courage and good nature were important for development of any student and explained that they could get knowledge by reading books regularly.

He advised them to strive for achieving their goals by making hard work and asked them not to disappoint with failures but make those experiences as steppingstones to success. He wanted them to understand the needs of future and develop skills accordingly.

Kandukur MLA Manugunta Mahidhar Reddy advised the parents to understand the corporate schools and colleges were falling behind in providing quality education. He said the government was trying to provide best education in government schools and asked the parents to let their children pursue their interesting subjects than forcing them to join the rat race.

DEO V S Subbarao said the government was providing opportunities to all to get education in a pleasant atmosphere and asked them to utilise the services. He mentioned that the students selected for Pratibha Puraskars were best examples for quality education in government schools.
