Vizianagaram: The much-awaited three-day practice match between South Africa and Indian Board Presidents-XI at PVG Raju Stadium is called off due to rain on Thursday.

The practice match is scheduled between the two teams as a preparatory match for a real test match to be held from October 2-6 in Visakhapatnam. But the continuous rains have washed out the dream of locals who want to watch the game of prominent players like Rohit Sharma and others.

The Indian Board Presidents -XI is being led by captain Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock is the captain of South Africa. The north zone cricket association has made elaborate arrangements for the match and students from various schools and colleges are also informed and invited to watch the match.

They have been enthusiastically waiting for the today's practice match but the rains have washed out their dreams. District Collector M Harijawaharlal said that such matches would bring name and dame to the town in national level. Chief selector MSK Prasad and others have visited the stadium and announced that the match was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions.
