Rain havoc: 1 dies in roof collapse in Guntur
A 78-year-old woman was dead and her daughter seriously injured when the tiled roof of a house in which they were residing was collapsed in the wee hours of Thursday.
Guntur: A 78-year-old woman was dead and her daughter seriously injured when the tiled roof of a house in which they were residing was collapsed in the wee hours of Thursday. The roof was soaked due to rain during the last two days and caved in.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Shaik Meherunnisa (84),
a resident of Madgam Nagar in Guntur old city. Deceased along with her daughter Rehana was sleeping in the house. The roof tiles soaked and suddenly fell on them while they were sleeping. The injured Rehana has been shifted to GGH in Guntur for treatment.
One Town police registered the case and took up investigation. Meanwhile, rain during the last two days inundated several colonies and roads in the city. Rainwater stranded on the roads in Brodipet, Arundalpet, Nehru Nagar, Kannavarithota and AT Agraharam causing inconvenience. Residents of city got respite from the sultry weather during day time.
