Vijayawada: Leaders of several political parties raised their voice against the GO No 1 banning processions and public meetings on roads stating that it is nothing but suppressing the freedom of expression.

TDP leaders, including party state president K Atchannaidu, politburo member Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, former minister Nakka Ananda Babu and Nimmala Ramanaidu condemning the ban on meetings in public roads, said that this is the latest attempt by the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government to stifle the voice of people.

Atchannaidu said that it is undemocratic to deny the right of political parties to express their views. He said that the TDP government never resorted to such acts when Jagan Mohan Reddy took out a padayatra.

Ramanaidu said that the Kandukuru and Guntur incidents were nothing but conspiracy of state government as a large number of people participating in Chandrababu meetings.

Politburo member Butchaiah Chowdary expressed surprise over bringing out GO made during British rule. He said that the YSRCP government brought a dark GO which is unconstitutional to suppress the democratic rights of people and political parties and demanded CBI inquiry into Kandukuru and Guntur stampede incidents.

Jana Sena Party political affairs committee chairman Nadendla manohar said the GO is nothing but continuation of attempts made to prevent their party president Pawan Kalyan from conducting a meeting in Visakhapatnam in the past. He said that the YSRCP government was bringing out such black GOs as anti-government sentiment was rising among people.
