Amaravati: TDP national spokesman G Deepak Reddy on Saturday accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy government of ushering in an oppressive regime similar to those of the erstwhile Palegars without any respect or commitment to the democratic rights and development aspirations of the people in the state.

Deepak Reddy alleged that the YSRCP MLA along with his son, henchmen and the local police attacked the residence of J C Prabhakar Reddy inTadipatri. Very strangely, the DSP and other police officials were showing their weapons to the victims rather than the ruling party MLA's supporters who entered into the JC's house in violation of the laws.

Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader termed it as unfortunate and sad for democracy that the home minister herself was telling outright lies and falsehoods that the YSRCP MLA only came for peace talks with the JC family in Tadipatri. If that was the case, the home minister should explain why they brought sticks and axes along with them and forcibly entered the JC house and beat up persons there. The video cameras clearly showed how the ruling party MLA behaved atrociously and how the local police fully supported him during the attack, he said.

Deepak Reddy deplored that the Chief Minister has been hell bent on 'killing democracy' with the sole purpose of snuffing the voice of the Opposition in order to loot the whole state altogether. The JC family has been politically active for the past 40 years with their previous generations also having a record of taking part in freedom struggle. They have not allowed a single untoward or violent incident in the five years of the TDP regime. But now, in just 19 months, so many attacks and harassments were carried out. Like nowhere else, the police themselves were openly encouraging the ruling YSRCP leaders' oppressive activities.

Deepak Reddy said that instead of resorting to violence, the YSRCP MLA could have clarified to the people that his family members did not demand any money for the sand being taken away in bullock carts in the constituency.

It was alleged in social media that the MLA's wife was asking for Rs 10,000 for a bullock cart load of sand. Instead of giving clarifications, the MLA and his henchmen and his son also wrongfully entered the JC house and created tensions. What is more, SC, ST atrocities cases and an attempt to murder case were filed against the victims, he said.
