Tirupati: Sri City Development Commissioner's Office and Sri City Foundation jointly conducted essay writing competitions for high school students in the vicinity of the Integrated Business City on 'Plastic Prevention and Alternatives' on Tuesday and Wednesday. Winners of the competitions were given away prizes in separate functions held on Wednesday at the respective high schools at Irugulam, Madanapalem and Sri City-Chinmaya Vidyalaya.

Development Commissioner, Sri City SEZ, R Muthuraj took part in those events and gave away the prizes and certificates to winners and presented certificates to all the participants.

Addressing the students, Muthuraj explained the adverse effects of plastic waste on environment and called upon them to avoid its usage.

Saplings were planted on the premises of Cherivi government primary school under the auspices of the Sri City Foundation, as part of regular Greenery Drive Tree Plantation Programme. The headmaster said that the school will take over the responsibility of plant care with the participation of students.
