Tirupati: Students along with their parents in big numbers throng to SV University Tarakarama Stadium on Sunday to witness the ongoing athletic competitions NIDJAM 2019.
Several events were completed on the second day and the medals have been distributed by dignitaries to the winners and first and second runners up. District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta spent much time at the stadium along with his family members and watched 100 and 1000 metres running race, long jump, high jump, discuss throw and shot put events.
He asked the officials to keep drinking water, cool drinks and medical teams ready at every event. He distributed medals to the winners and runners in Under 14 shot put. He said that about 350 volunteers are ready to assist the visiting athletes and officials.
The decision of Athletic Federation of India (AFI) to select the athletes who exhibit outstanding performance in NIDJAM for providing training for Olympics will be a rewarding one for them. The winners and runners have been expressing happiness as they receive the idols of Lord Venkateswara as mementoes along with the medals and certificates..
