Tirupati: The two-day international webinar on "Challenges and Strategies in Combating Covid-19" being organised by the department of Biosciences and Sericulture in Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) began on Thursday. Addressing the webinar, Vice Chancellor Prof D Jamuna has stressed on the need for bringing awareness about challenges being faced during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr G harinath, consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon, William Harvey hospital in Kent of UK, has discussed about dealing with a second wave of pandemic if it happens and develop specific safe practices to ensure patient care is not compromised.

Prof D Samba Reddy, Chancellor, EDGES Fellow, College of Medicine, Texas, USA, has said the best way to prevent infection was to avoid being exposed to the virus by following social distancing.

Dr K H Vasudeva Naidu of SV Medical College, Tirupati, Dr S Srinivasulu Reddy, Consultant Microbiologist of William Harvey Hospital in UK, have also delivered talks. SPMVV Rector Prof K Sandhya Rani, Registrar Prof DM Mamatha, Dean, School of Sciences Prof A Jyothi have also spoke on the occasion.

Webinar convener Prof D Bharathi explained the objectives of webinar. Prof P Sujatha, Prof G Savithri, Prof K Nagalakshmi, Dr N Vijaya Kumari, Dr A Suvarna Latha, Dr K S Shanthi Sree and other faculty members have participated.
