Visakhapatnam: Rains continued in several parts of the city on Friday causing inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians.

According to the IMD forecast, the low-pressure area over north coastal AP and adjoining coastal Odisha and neighbourhood persists.

Thunderstorms with lightning is likely at isolated places over north coastal AP and Yanam for the next five days in south coastal AP and Rayalaseema on Saturday.

The southwest monsoon is vigorous over Rayalaseema and active over coastal AP. Very high rainfall occurred at Avanigadda in Krishna district and high rainfall occurred at isolated places over Kurnool and Kadapa districts of Rayalaseema.

Strong surface winds from westerly direction, with speed reaching 40 to 50 km/hour are likely along and off coastal AP during the next 24 hours from Friday evening, according to the Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC).

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea till Saturday evening. Commuters found it tough to wade through water filled pits that dotted several neighbourhoods in the city.
