Visakhapatnam: Women Development and Child Welfare Minister Taneti Vanitha has announced to set up CCTV cameras at Anganwadi centres to monitor and improvise their performance.

At a review meeting held with the officials concerned from Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam here on Tuesday, better health services to children and women will be provided through Anganwadi centres, availing a slew of welfare schemes meant for the target groups.

"Still in view of the systemic deficiencies, the intended beneficiaries are not able to get 100 per cent benefits offered by the State. In order to identify these gaps and give the best of services to pregnant women and lactating mothers, infants and children, the officials should take all efforts," she stressed.

The Minister directed the officials to make surprise visits and inspections to Anganwadi centres regularly and identify lapses if any. Calling for collective effort to improve performance, the Minister warned, "The performers will be incentivised, while those remaining indifferent will have to face action."
