Visakhapatnam : Uttarandhra Development Forum (UDF) convener Ajay Sharma called for a united fight against the Central government, which is creating obstacles for the development of North Andhra.

A campaign 'kala jata' was launched by the representatives of Visakha Ukku Parirakshana Porata Committee (VUPPC) under the aegis of the UDF here on Tuesday and it will continue till June 24.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Sharma strongly opposed the 100 percent strategic sale of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP). He criticised the Union government for weakening the VSP. He stated that he would always extend support to the Ukku stir.

The UDF convenor pointed out that the irrigation project Sujala Sravanti was needed for drinking and cultivating water in the region was still at foundation level. He alleged that the new railway zone, North Andhra development package and other issues were confined to papers.

Representatives of VUPPC J Ayodhya Ram, K Satyanarayana Rao, N Ramachandra Rao, V Rammohan Kumar, YT Das and N Rama Rao explained that the Central government was undermining the country's economy, internal security and even the freedom of the people.

Steel Plant recognised union general secretary D Adinarayana, UDF leaders Kumara Mangalam, K Giridhar and a large number of workers were present.
