Amaravati: Special Category Status, Polavaram funds, 12 lakh new houses for rural poor, bridging the revenue deficit are the main focusing subjects of the YSR Congress Party in the ensuing Parliament Session.

The Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy have directed the party MPs to raise these subjects, during the Parliamentary Party meeting held at his residence at Tadepalli in Guntur on Friday.

The centre has to release at least Rs 3222 cr of Polavaram dues to the state. In addition to that, this financial year alone, the centre has to release at least Rs 10,000 cr under Rehabilitation and Resettlement package and another Rs 6,000 cr for construction works of Polavaram project. This issue to be raised in the Parliament by the YSRCP MPs.

Jagan directed the MPs to demand the centre to sanction 12 lakh additional houses for the rural poor as the new proposal since the state government is undertaking housing scheme on a massive scale.

The Chief Minister will write a letter to the centre to give relaxations for eligibility in the housing scheme. Jagan observed that the central government's restrictions on the eligibility for housing scheme have been ignoring many people. Those who have cell phones, bikes also ineligible for the houses, which is not correct, he added. Apart from the rising voice in the Parliament by the YSRCP leaders, Jagan also decided to give suggestions to the centre on these practical setbacks in ensuring houses to poor and middle-class families.

The state has to get at least Rs 2,246 cr under the NREGA. MPs are asked to demand the central government about these funds in the Parliament. Jagan suggested the MPs to ask the union government to extend the length of the roads under PMGSY from 3,285 km to 6,135 km.

MPs asked to ensure approvals for establishing 7 new medical colleges in the state. There is a proposal to shift the Tribal University to Salur in Vizianagaram district and the MPs were suggested to get the central nod for this new development.

The YSRCP leaders will ask the centre to announce the Krishna Godavari rivers interlinking project as a national project.

Jagan informed the MPs that the nominated posts in the state will be completed after local body elections. The Amma Vodi programme to be launched on January 9, he said.

He assured that he will interact with all the MLAs along with four or five important leaders from their respective Assembly segments, shortly.

MPs appreciated the conversion of Telugu medium to English medium in the schools.

MPs Mithun Reddy, Margani Bharat and K Satyavathi told media after the YSRCPP meeting that Jagan said to raise SCS, rèlease of funds for Polavaram project works and backward districts besides other issues, like Ramayapatnam port, all guarantees in accordance with AP Reorganization Act in addition to the establishment of medical colleges in the state, and compensating revenue deficit of the state.

Even CAG certified the revenue deficit that our state should get and now it has strengthened us to ask in the Parliament, they said.

The Chief Minister detailed everything and instructed us to get all the demands fulfilled from the central government, Mithun Reddy said.

The Chief Minister instructed us to get all the funds assured by the central government and give priority to SCS and setting up of medical colleges, he added.
