Deepika had gone to the JNU in Delhi because she wanted to give her support to the students protesting against violence there. However, she has only met the students of diverse political hues and did not even speak a word. Each party was amplifying her silence to suit its convenience and somehow Chhapaak got mired in controversy.

While, the film Chhapaak also scored a very low IMDb rating--that of 4.6 stars-- as compared to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, got a high rating of 8.5 stars. As both were releases together.
