ParvathyThiruvothu bashed Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh in Anupama Chopra's show. Explained how Joker was different

Recently, the celebrities from Bollywood and South Indian industry appeared in Anupama Chopra's show on Film Companion to have a discussion about their why and wherefores of choosing roles in movies and how they see each other's craft. The list who appeared in the "100 Greatest Performance of the decade" included Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpayee, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vijay Sethupathi, Vijay Devarakonda and Parvathy Thiruvothu.

While many of the actors put their thoughts on each other's work and what they particularly liked about their performances, Uyare starring ParvathyThiruvothu, on the other hand, inscribed her opinions about Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. She explained the difference between showing the misogyny of society and glorifying it. She also compared both the movies to Joker and explained how Joker being a destructive individual showed the bad side of him after getting disregard from society, he murdered people but the audience loved him as an actor and not a character. This is not glorification.

While the audience loved the character of both Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, many of the fans tried behaving the same in real life which incites applause and that is a glorification of misogynic society. Parvathy said - "We can watch a tragedy and leave it there without being inspired to follow it."

Vijay Devarakonda who played the lead protagonist in Arjun Reddy took his stand and clarified that a film does not decide the behaviour of a person. According to Vijay, if a role is offered to an actor, it is a commitment to justify it.

Well, both the actors honestly tried to put their thoughts. While Parvathy explained the fine line between showing a tragedy in the movie and glorifying it, on the contrary, Vijay justified his side of choosing the character and seeing it just as a role and nothing else. Ever since the release of Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, people are criticizing actors and movie for glorifying misogyny. In many of the occasions, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga got slammed for defending toxic behaviour of the protagonist on his film.
