Priyanka Chopra Jonas's position as UNICEF's Goodwill Ambassador was under criticism and scrutiny for tweeting in the favour of the Indian Armed Forces in the aftermath of Indo-Pak tensions. Debunking false notions about the global icon's supposed ideal stance on the issue, UN's spokesperson released a statement in her favour, making it clear that she has the right to speak in her personal capacity.

Upon being asked about Priyanka's stance and it's veracity, Stephane Dujarric, on behalf of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, "When UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors speak in their personal capacity, they retain the right to speak about issues that interest or concern them. Their personal views or actions do not necessarily reflect those of UNICEF."

India's one true international star received support from citizens and celebrities world over, asserting that she was justified in voicing her opinion. Ayushmann Khurrana, Kangana Ranaut, Milind Deora and Anupria Goenka were a few among those.
