The Chennai city witnessed a great box office performance this Friday. Two Tamil films, Suriya's Kaappan and R. Parthipan's Oththa Seruppu have hit the screens yesterday. While the former is an out and out action thriller, the latter is an experimental murder mystery drama.
Both the films opened well at the box office, according to their own respective standards. Kaappaan managed to collect a gross of Rs. 89 lakhs despite releasing on a weekday. This proves the stamina and stardom of Suriya in the city. It is expected to do even better during this weekend.
On the other hand, Oththa Seruppu which has no big star cast is completely picking up on the word of mouth. It grossed a total of Rs. 11 lakhs on an opening day. On the whole, both the films managed to collect a cumulative total of Rs. 1cr only from Chennai city, which is quite good.
