Sivakumar, like Jeetendra in Hindi cinema was an eternally youthful hero, who has given a notable career boost to many heroines in Tamil films. His entire family is in the cinema industry, which comprises his two sons – Suriya, his wife Jyotika, the younger son Karthi and daughter Brinda who is into playback singing.
In his career of 200 films, he has acted alongside the erstwhile greats like MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan and also the later lot like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth and Vijayakanth. Interestingly, his 100th film ' Rosappu Ravikkaikari', a remake of a Kannada film was certified for adults only and it made an everlasting impression on his fans.
Released on May 18, 1979, the film made a splash and was a critical and a commercial success. The film got the Adults Only certificate as it was a film which attempted to examine the sexuality of a married woman and its complexities, a bold theme by any standards in Indian cinema.
