The month of June is a celebration in Frankfurt with events like the Opera Square festival and the Waldchestag. Adding on to the list, Frankfurt and all sports enthusiasts are set to witness one of the greatest Triathalons- The Ironman European Championship on the June 30.
More than 3,000 athletes from 78 different countries will compete for one of the 80 qualifying places in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. This ultra-endurance event requires participants to complete a 3.8 km course of swimming at the Langener Waldsee, 185 km of challenging bicycling and a full 42 km marathon at the end.
While the registrations for the championship are closed, witnessing the championship amidst the picturesque background of the Rhine Main region and exciting spectators is sure to make it an experience of a lifetime.
The unique setting at the finish line is particularly splendid, with runners arriving in the heart of Frankfurt at the historical Römerberg while being cheered on by thousands of fans.
