NEET 2020 Notification Released; Get all the details here
NTA or the National Testing Agency has released the detailed notification for NEET 2020 examination.
The National Testing Agency(NTA) has released a detailed notification for NEET examination to be held in 2020. The apex testing agency will start the NEET 2020 registrations or online applications from today, 2 December at 4 PM. From this year onwards, NEET 2020 has become the only entrance test to get admission to undergraduate medical programmes i.e. MBBS and BDS in India.
Different medical institutes, especially the top ones like AIIMS and PIGMER would hold different entrance tests earlier, but from 2020-21 academic year, the HRD ministry has prescribed only a single medical entrance test for all the institutes. From this year onwards, NEET 2020 results will be used to allot all medical/ dental seats in the country, including in AIIMS, JIPMER, private medical colleges, state run medical colleges, AFMC, ESIC, etc.
Medical aspirants planning to pursue education abroad need to clear the NEET 2020 exam and qualify the same to seek admission into universities abroad.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates need to qualify the following eligibility criteria in order to appear for NEET 2020 exam:
1. Only Indian nationals are allowed to appear for the exam.
2. Applicant must have completed 10+2 or must be appearing for 10+2 exam this year.
3. Applicants must have subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology at 10+2 level. They must also have Mathematics and an elective subject along with English at 10+2 level.
Age Limit:
The NTA has prescribed a upper and lower age limit for applicants appearing for NEET 2020 entrance exam. As per the notification, NEET 2020 lower age limit has been set at 17 years as on 31st December 2019 while the upper age limit has been fixed at 25 years as on 31st December 2019. A relaxation of 5 years is in place for the upper age limit for people of SC, ST, OBC NCL or PWD backgrounds.
Application Fee Hike:
As per the prospectus or the notification released by the NTA, there has been an increase of 5 to 7% in the NEET 2020 application fee. The application fee for General Category candidates has been fixed at Rs 1500/-. For General EWS and OBW Non-Creamy Layer Candidates: Rs 1400/-. The NEET 2020 application fee for SC, ST, PWD and transgender candidates is Rs 800/-.
