Right to Protein, A National Public Health Campaign has launched India's first' Protein Day' on February 27th to attract public attention, to raise awareness and educate India about protein's health benefits. Globally, many countries recognize February 27 as the Protein Day and India will join that movement as well from this year.
A nationally celebrated Protein Day will encourage Indian citizens at large to learn more about the various types of available plant and animal protein sources and their importance for better nutrition and health in daily meals.
While India continues to make progress in the health sector, it is important for us to identify that one transformation trigger that can set us on a path of long-term behavioral change towards improved health, "said Dr. Jagmeet Madan, Eminent Nutrition Expert, Professor, Principal, Vithaldas Thackersey College of Home Science (Autonomous) SNDTWU, Mumbai and National President, Indian Dietetic Association.We need a vibrant ecosystem of citizens who are nutritionally aware and a first step towards starting an Indian Protein Day which should set us on the right path of protein sufficiency," she added.

With this, we want to help create opportunities to champion protein adequacy integration into national and local policies, programs, and projects. The Right To Protein initiative aims to create a vibrant community of like-minded people who will not only raise awareness among themselves about the value of protein in an Indian diet, but will also further the country's public health agenda in line with initiatives by the Government of India such as Poshan Abhiyaan and Fit India movement. The larger goal is to champion the cause of protein sufficiency and help India be more protein aware for better nutrition and improved public health.
