Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) administrator, Gaurav Gupta has said that they would work with the public and resident associations (RWAs) to work on making substantial changes in the policy on waste disposal systems to keep the city clean.

A few recommendations made by the civic body include identifying a cleaner at the block level, increasing awareness amongst the citizens, deployment of a marshal at every ward level, a junior health supervisor and a citizen volunteer, as well as identifying zone volunteers and providing training sessions on solid waste.

"The waste problem can be solved if everyone works with the motto "Namma Kasa Namma Javabdari" (our garbage is our responsibility). At present there is a learning center in the HSR layout of the Bommanahalli zone which will educate people on composting and zero waste homes," Gupta said.

The BBMP administrator instructed Special Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) Randeep D to get a progress report in review meetings with the officials on a regular basis to report on changes in the solid waste disposal system.
