Well known artist from the city, Y Shivarama Chary's work is one of the main sculptures at Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, titled 'Voyage'. "As an alumnus of the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, I am contributing the present monumental sculpture made out of scrap metal and used automobile parts. In my own humble way, I am offering this work of art as a token of appreciation to the institute that has laid foundation to my creative endeavors."

Although monumental sculptures are nothing new for him as a sculptor, this present one titled 'Voyage' holds a special place as commemorating his passion for art and hopes to inspire many young artists who study and pursue art as profession.

He says, "Working in an expansive studio, my sculptures often take gigantic forms unbound by material or medium. Although, I navigate through various media with the ease of a draftsman, working with scrap is my favourite medium. The large sculpture put up here represents my journey as an artist and as a creator."

About 'Voyage' he says, "The boat like structure, the unique forms and text which are my forte, find place here too, only to be accentuated by the other abstract and minimal forms.

The sculpture may be seen as an assemblage or an installation as raw material from scrap metal workshops get turned into beautiful pieces of art. The concept of using iron scrap comes from the idea of waste management and creating best out of waste and evokes journey of an artist from childhood till growing up with creativity, fun and new perceptions."
