Mulls roadshows, rallies, meetings with communities

Hyderabad: Citizens get ready for traffic diversions and traffic snarls as the ruling BRS is planning to hit the road in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with a series of roadshows, rallies and meetings with various communities, including IT professionals, from November second week.

BRS working president and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao has been tasked with holding of roadshows, rallies and street-corner meetings in every Assembly segment. The BRS, which feels that the IT employees and the population from Andhra Pradesh may not vote for the pink party this time, has decided to reach out to them and convince them.

Another reason for this mode of campaign is because the vote percentage in 2014 and 2018 Assembly elections was not more than 50 per cent in GHMC limits. KCR will hold a meeting with some key leaders from different communities to increase the vote percentage. According to the schedule that has been finalised, KTR will hold community-based meetings during morning and afternoon time. Rallies and street-corner meetings will be held in the evening.

KTR will showcase the improvement of infrastructure facilities mainly road network, flyovers, regular safe drinking water supply, affordable living in the city, maintenance of law and order, communal harmony, low crime rate, etc.

KCR is also planning to hold a meeting with IT professionals and first-time voters. He will also meet the traders from other states mainly Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala and explain to them the achievements of the BRS government, including the friendly environment provided for their business and seek their support in the elections.

Separate social media teams have already been formed to reach out to the voters during the election period, leaders said, adding that KTR is also keen to interact with Greater Hyderabad voters through teleconference and enquire about civic amenities provided since the BRS came to power in the state.
