Chilkur: The main priest of reputed Balaji temple at Chilkur, Rangarajan Panthulu, on Tuesday announced that he formed a 'Jatayuvu Sena' for protection of women, with the blessings of Balaji, in view of increasing atrocities against women, especially children.

Speaking on the occasion at the temple, he said that just as Jatayuvu tried to protect Sita from Ravanasura, everyone should fight to prevent atrocities against women.

Explaining to the devotees how he came up with the idea, he said that he was shocked to hear the laments of parents of Snehitha, the 9-month-old-kid who was raped and killed in Warangal, who said that their kid was born with the blessings of Chilkur Balaji. A disciple Pavan urged him to take initiatives for protection of women and then he thought of forming a Sena to protect women.

Meanwhile, a youth named Nadeem saved a 10-year girl near Moinabad from a person from Karvan who was taking her on his bike forcibly and handed over the offender to police.

Lauding the efforts of youth to save the girl, he said that everyone should fight like Jatayuvu to save girls. On this occasion, he felicitated Nadeem and made him the first member of Jatayuvu Sena. Later, he tied 'Rakshana' wrist band to devotees and blessed them.
