CPI reminds KCR of promises to tribals
CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy on Thursday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao fulfil his promise of 10 per cent reservation to tribals, as mentioned in the TRS manifesto.
Hyderabad: CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy on Thursday demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao fulfil his promise of 10 per cent reservation to tribals, as mentioned in the TRS manifesto. In a letter addressed to CM, Chada Venkat Reddy demanded reservations to STs and providing basic facilities to tribal people.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the CM's inaction, he said that the CM failed in providing 10 per cent reservation even after six years of his rule. As a result, tribals were being deprived of their opportunities in education and employment, he lamented. He alleged that State government had failed in implementing 2006 forest rights and land transfer acts. Condemning atrocities against tribals by forest officials, he said the tribals were being forcibly evicted from their lands.
He alleged that State government had been diverting the funds allocated for tribal welfare and ST sub-plan provided by central government. Stating that single commission for both SCs and STs had failed to resolve tribal issues, he demanded that the government form a separate commission for STs.
Venkat Reddy alleged that the state government had failed miserably in preventing tribals from selling their own children. Failure of the state government to resolve tribal issue has resulted in conflicts among various tribal sects, he alleged.
