KPHB: Forum Hyderabad is back with yet another edition of 'Forum Purple Run' this year. The run which is a CSR initiative of Forum aims to create awareness about Alzheimer's.

The run will be flagged off from Forum Mall, Kukatpally, on September 15 at 5 am. Around 2,000 runners are expected to participate this year in 5-K and 10-categories.

Tanveer Shaikh, Cluster Head of Forum Malls, said "Alzheimer's disease is the fifth leading cause of death among people above the age group of 55 years & Forum strives to create awareness by organising PURPLE RUN every year as running is the preventive medicine to fight Alzheimer's." Last year's run witnessed participation by 1,600 runners in Hyderabad and the count for this year will cross 2000, he said.

Forum Hyderabad will be donating the proceeds from the run to Alzheimer's & Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) this year. ARDSI is a registered national, non-profit voluntary organization engaged in the care, support, training and research of dementia since its inception in 1992.

The bib distribution will happen on the premises of Forum Mall from September 13 to 14. On-the-spot registrations will also be accepted on all three days. All runners registered for this year will receive a goody bag containing discount vouchers, run T-shirt, bib numbers, timing chips, complimentary breakfast coupon and itinerary sheet. Children and senior citizens can register for free and can run under non-competitive categories.
