Hyderabad: Several Left-based people's organisations on Sunday called upon people to make the Bharat Bandh scheduled on December 8 successful. The bandh, leaders of the organisations said, is to press the agitating farmers' demand to scrap the three laws passed by Parliament and also to withdraw the Electricity (Amendment) Act.
The leaders took the decision to support the bandh at a meeting organised in Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Bagh Lingampally. They included AKSCC Telangana State convener Teegala Sagar, Pasya Padma, K G Ramchandar, Achuta Rama Rao, Upender Reddy, Kannaganti Ravi. Viswa Kiran presided.
Addressing the meeting, the leaders called for making the bandh in Telangana successful, while stressing that it was to protest against the Central government's 'adamant attitude'. They appealed to various people's organisations, intellectuals and educated class to support the bandh.
The leaders pointed out that the three passed laws did not contain the demand of farmers on MSP. They called for holding of motorcycle rallies on December 7 in all districts and mandal centres and taking up of campaign by distributing pamphlets and posters.
They called upon all political parties, trade organisations, transport associations and managements of hotels to voluntarily support the bandh. They released posters urging the Centre to give up its adamant attitude and to scrap the three laws.
Among the leaders present at the meeting were Telangana Rythu Sangham president P Janga Reddy, joint secretary Muda Shoban, Telangana Rythanga Samithi vice-president Dharmapal, Vyavasaya Karmika Sangham State vice-president Burri Prasad, vice-president Boppna Padma, CITU secretary S V Rama, INTUC State secretary Kotam Raju, AITUC city vice-president Balraj, IFTU State vice-president S L Padma, artisans' organisation State convener M V Ramana, BKMU State president Kanthayya, PDSU State secretary Boyinapalli Ramu, Awaaz State secretary Md Abbas, Girijana Sangham State secretary Sriram Naik, POW State vice-president Rama.
