Hyderabad: Persisting Covid threat ushers in new trend of air hugs and flying kisses

Hyderabad: Marking an end to the large gatherings and lavish parties, Christmas 2020 is ushering in a new trend of home carols and parties and online prayers - handshakes and hugs are passe, replaced with air hugs and flying kisses. But the shine and glory of the advent season come alive in the midnight masses, bright-lit candles, online carols and in the hearts of the people which are carrying joy, love and hope this Christmas.

"I think, first and foremost is to keep yourself safe and healthy for your loved ones is the best gift that we can exchange in this pandemic situations. They need you and love you as much as you need them and love them. Next, keep it as upbeat as you can. Scent the house with holiday fragrances like cinnamon and cloves, decorate with lights and play Christmas music, Dance, Bake and make all the fun you need this Christmas," said K Achsa Paul, student, St Pious College, Secunderabad.

Lighting a hope to the low fete Christmas, Nixsan, resident of Mettuguda said, "Celebrations of enticing vulnerability are preferably, and smartly halted. Christmas is meant to be the most joyous of times after all, when humanity blends together their religious faith in the celebration of our prophet Jesus, day of entry." Another youngster Leo Mrinal said, "If we can't do Christmas this year, there is always next year. Unlike every year, this time we give up an exchange of gifts to contain the person to person contact, No gift wrappers, boxes and ribbon this time and will be greeting through Zoom or other social media."

"As for those who are in higher-risk populations, it's best to use Zoom for any get-together parties, send or drop off gifts without contact. I know it's miserable, but until we eradicate this virus, it's the best we can do. Let's look forward to next year. Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year," said Robert Twincy from Manikonda.
