Over 900 booked for drunk driving on New Year's eve in Hyderabad

Around 1814 persons were booked on the New Year's eve for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Around 1,814 persons were booked on the New Year's eve for driving under the influence of alcohol including 931 from Cyberabad commissionerate limits. Most of the cases were registered in Hi-Tec City, Gachibowli, Raidurgam, Madhapur, Kukatpally, KPHB of the city.

The police seized 721 bikes, 190 cars, 18 autos and two lorries were seized.

The Cyberabad Police conducted a special drunk and drive check on December 31 night until the early hours on January 1 to prevent any untoward incidents and road accidents.

All the persons who were booked will be produced before the court after a charge sheet is filed.

Cyberabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjanar had already asked the citizens to not to drive in a drunk state. Besides the fine and imprisonment based on their record, the driving licenses of them will be cancelled either temporarily and permanently under section 19 of Motor Vehicles act, 1988.

On the other hand, around 394 persons and 496 persons under Hyderabad commissionerate limits were booked by the Rachakonda police on the New Year eve.
