Seek sanction of self-employment loans applied since 2017; threaten fast-unto-death

Hyderabad: The joint action committee of the organisations of the disabled locked up and laid siege to the office of the commissioner of the welfare of disabled and senior citizens in the city on Monday, demanding sanction of self-employment loans to beneficiaries.

Congress State specially challenged wing chairman Mutteneni Veeraiah criticised the disabled welfare department for cheating the disabled. "About 300 disabled persons from each district have applied for loans since 2017. But, none of them was sanctioned loans so far. Now, the officials are asking them to apply afresh online. It will be difficult for the specially challenged persons to restart the entire process. Online procedure should be stopped for a while till all the beneficiaries who had applied earlier get loans. Else, we will commence fast-unto-death," he added.

Telangana Graduates Association state president Lakshman, Disabled Rights National Forum state secretary Adivaiah, president Venkat, Intellectuals Forum state president Satish, Telangana Disabled Forum state president Mekala Sammaiah, women president Botla Sumathi, Siddipet district president Ramesh, Congress Disabled wing Rangareddy president Suresh, Narasimha Chary, state general secretary V Chary, Srinivas, Rajanna Siricilla president K Parasuram and others took part in the protest.
