Kayasth community holds Sangat Pangat
The Hyderabad Kayasth Community get-together (Sangat Pangat) was held at Sri Venkateswara Colony Welfare Association, Beside Water Tank, Narayanaguda, on Sunday.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Kayasth Community get-together (Sangat Pangat) was held at Sri Venkateswara Colony Welfare Association, Beside Water Tank, Narayanaguda, on Sunday.
The Hyderabad Kayasth community felt it was a great honour that R K Sinhaji, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and SIS Chairman, attended the function as the chief guest.
Eminent doctors and prominent personalities of Kayasth Community were honoured by the chief guest. He also released a biography of Yogesh Raj Srivastava, a Godfray Philips Bravery Awardee. Avadh Nath Rai, Rakesh Raj Saxena, B Ravinder Prasad Srivastava, Manoj K S Mathur, Shubrata Nigam, Neeraj Saxena were present.
Dr Yogesh Raj Srivastava is a regular blood donor and social worker. A chemist-turned-social worker, Srivastava was born (12th February 1964) and raised in Hyderabad. He donated his blood for 119 times and motivated others to donate blood.
He has not been born with a gold plate and gold spoon. The family was very poor and suffered for want of food. Due to financial constraints, he discontinued his studies in B Com final year. Having studied under the street lights, Yogesh has been a champion of the cause of education.
Srivastava started donating blood on the eve of Gandhi jayanthi at the blood donation camp organised at his college and he was impressed by the saying of the blood donation camp organisers that, "one more life will be saved due to your blood." So far he has donated blood 119 times and saved the lives of several people.
Yogesh is a lover of education. When he was a student, one inspector gave him Rs 500 which he spent for his higher education. Later on, from that day onwards till date, he has provided books, clothes, blankets, pens and pencils, fees to hundreds of students who are below the poverty line.
He conducted 72 blood donation camps. He also distributed tricycles, wheel chairs, hearing aids, clutches to 61 disabled persons. He organised 202 free super specialty health check-up camps, approximately benefiting 3lakh poor people.
He distributed spectacles to 12,950 poor people. He also held camps for EYE cataract operations. He arranged school fees, distributed textbooks and uniforms approximately to 10,600 poor and homeless children. Not only that he marriages for 7 needy and poor girls.
Srivastava also took up AIDS awareness programmes as part of his exemplary service. He conducted anti-dowry seminars and rallies, no tobacco day rallies, World Red Cross Day programmes, World Women's Day programmes etc. He distributed 2,400 saris and 600 woolen blankets to the needy women.
