Hyderabad: There is no relief from the heat waves for another week in the state. Though there are a few spells of rains, heat waves will persist for more a week in the state and in the city as well.
The Southwest monsoon, which is expected to hit Kerala on June 1, is delayed for another week. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has revealed that the monsoon would touch Kerala on June 8 (Saturday) and that there is a possibility of entering South Telangana on June 13.
According to the Director of Hyderabad Meteorological Department, Y Karunakar Reddy, there is a possibility of one or two days on either side of the expected date of June 13. He said monsoon would be entering South Andhra Pradesh on June 11, which was originally expected to be on June 6. The IMD predicted that there would be a normal rainfall this year. It is 96% to the long-term average during June to September months.
Denizens upset with delay
Hyderabadis are upset that the monsoon season is delayed, as they are fed up with the heat wave conditions in the city. They are also anxious about how the rainfall would turn out to be in the city and the state this year.
The state recorded a maximum of 46.1 degrees Celsius in Adilabad district on May 30, and heat wave conditions prevail in the isolated pockets in the district. Even the city's temperature has also remained at 40.5 degrees Celsius, deviating four degrees from the normal.
