Residents choke as trash burnt brazenly
The officials at Pragathi Nagar dump yard have been burning tonnes of garbage waste for the past few months. The smoke from the burning plastic has caused distress to the nearby residential areas.

Locals allege that the waste is being burned every alternate day and that there has been no action from the authorities concerned even after being alerted about the grave issue by the locals. "We have been breathing smoke emitted from the plastic waste in the dump yard for the past several months, and no action has been taken, so far. Our house is filled with smoke.
It is illegal to burn garbage in Hyderabad, but still they are doing it openly and no one is taking any action. We are now getting serious health issues. At least, think about the children living in our locality. We are suffering from groundwater contamination, air pollution, mosquitoes and stinking smell," said a local resident.
