Roads in poor state as officials look other way
The members of the Nizampet Common Man’s Forum on Sunday staged a demonstration here to protest against the apathy of officials concerned to the poor condition of the Nizampet main road.
Nizampet: The members of the Nizampet Common Man's Forum on Sunday staged a demonstration here to protest against the apathy of officials concerned to the poor condition of the Nizampet main road. Forum president Dhanunjay said no official has shown interest to order road repairs, even as the road turned bad several months ago.
The forum leader said that the indifference of the officials has been continuing even after Nizampet had become a municipality. Because of the poor condition of the Nizampet - Hi Tech City road, the traffic jams have become a routine and it takes hours for people to reach their destinations, Dhanunjay said.
He flayed officials for reducing the road's width from 40 ft to 10 ft, thus making it a regular spot for accidents. Dhanunjay pointed out that there was at least one accident between Bachupalli and Nizampet X Roads, which is used by scores of people.
He appealed to the officials concerned to immediately take up repairs of the road. If they failed to do so, he warned to launch a hunger strike after a week. Those who participated in the demonstration included local residents.
