Show of solidarity for Lankan blast victims
Expressing their solidarity, people from Christian and Muslim community organised a walk on Sunday evening to express anguish and condolences to the victims of Sri Lanka bomb blasts that took place on Easter Sunday.
Hyderabad: Expressing their solidarity, people from Christian and Muslim community organised a walk on Sunday evening to express anguish and condolences to the victims of Sri Lanka bomb blasts that took place on Easter Sunday.
The 1-km walk started off at 6 pm from St. Mary's Church, Secunderabad and proceeded via Mother Teresa's Statue to Saint Wesley's Church, Clock Tower and concluded a Candle Vigil Service expressing their sympathies for the victims of Sri Lanka. Close to 1,000 people from Muslim and Christian as well as Hindu communities took part in the walk.
"We condemn these attacks and have raised our support by the means of unity. We want to share the message of one religion and unity, and promote universal brotherhood among all the citizens and we extend our sympathies with the families of those who were martyred in Sri Lanka and pray for them, said Dr Md Iqbal Jaweed, the Vice President of Mecca Masjid Society.
"The terrorists have no religion and we all are united against terrorism. We have planned more such walks across Hyderabad and Secunderabad and are planning to organize such event in Falaknuma and churches around it as soon the holy month of Ramzan will start we are looking forward to uniting with our Christian brothers and sisters and spread a message of one nation to the world," added Dr Md Iqbal Jaweed.
