Patancheru: The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) - Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA), located at TSIIC Industrial Park in Pashamylaram on Thursday urged the Sangareddy Collector to expand and reconstruct the National Highway linking Isnapur to Pashamylaram Industrial Estate Road.

In a representation, the authority said the Pashamylaram Industrial Estate is a manufacturing hub for general engineering, electrical goods, transformers, chemicals and pharmaceutical goods, R&D, beverages, plastic & closers, textiles, paints, medical devices and food products. It was one of the biggest industrial estates in Telangana, spread across 1,600 acres with small, medium and large industries, in which around 400 units operate.

The representation stated that around 60,000 employees work in the industries and the industries are supporting around 5,000 vendors outside the industrial area, who are providing their services to the industries in phase-I, phase-II, phase-III, EPIP and export zone. The estate is generating revenue of Rs 1,000 crore for the government in the form of taxes.

Chandu Kumar Potti, chairman, PSRK Durga Prasad, vice-chairman, K. Raghava Reddy, secretary, and S Chidambaranathan, treasurer, T Surender Rao, joint secretary of the authority said the industrial area was connected to the Mumbai Highway with a distance of 4 km, passing through Isnapur village. "This is the only connecting road to the industrial area for the transportation of both men and machinery. Raw material of all sorts from across the country is reaching here through this road," they said.

In addition, the villagers of Isnapur, Pashamylaram, Indrakaran, Kesaram and Ordinance Factory are also using the road, they said. In the HMDA Masterplan, the NH Isnapur-Pashamylaram Road had been shown as 100 ft road. But, it is not even 30 ft at Isnapur X Roads. They quoted the representations of the IALA to the Collector as having instructed the MRO of Patancheru to clear the encroachments on the road. However, it was not executed, they said.

The representation stated that IALA had spent Rs 1 Crore to construct road-divider and another 1crore to shift the electrical lines to the centre meridian and to remove the road-side electrical poles to minimize the traffic jams. The PNGPIASS has spent Rs 35 lakh (full funds) towards the construction of the Isnapur Rythu Bazaar to shift the daily market beside the Isnapur-Pasahmylaram Road to expand the roads and to minimize the traffic jams.

The representation also listed some of the problems faced by the authority due to the poor road condition: extended travel time of approximately 35 to 50 min to cover the distance, expecting women are facing threat to come to office by travelling on these roads and foreign and domestic customers are not showing interest to visit the companies due to the bad roads and heavy traffic.

Due to the heavy traffic and potholes on roads, it is very difficult during medical emergencies. During transportation, goods are being damaged and material also caught fire once. The maintenance of the vehicles is increasing day by day. Per hour, nearly 600 vehicles are moving on the road during peak time.

The copies of the representations have been sent to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, K T Rama Rao, minister, the vice chairman & MD of TS Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd, the Engineer-in-Chief, (R & B), the Zonal Manager, TSIIC, Patancheru, the GM at District Industries Centre in Sangareddy.
