There are 36 ways to preserve rainwater
A unique one-stop destination for education and awareness on rain water harvesting (RWH) is drawing denizens in the city.
Jubilee Hills: A unique one-stop destination for education and awareness on rain water harvesting (RWH) is drawing denizens in the city. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board (HMWSSB) developed this RWH Theme Park in one-and-a-half acres to spread awareness on water saving specially among children. Located at Jubilee Hills Road No 51, the park was constructed with an amount of Rs 3 crore.
Speaking to The Hans India, GHMC Commissioner, Dana Kishore says, "GHMC and Water Board are focusing on water harvesting and reducing water wastage at household level. Water Board has started a voluntary oriented programme called Water Leadership and Conservation (WaLC). We want leaders to walk with us on water wastage and water conservation." He further added, "We had conducted a meeting on Thursday with 70 volunteers who are employees of Bank of America. They are going to spread the good word among people in their premises."
"The rain water harvesting theme park is the second in India after the park in Bengaluru. The main theme of this park is to bring awareness in people regarding rain water harvesting. There are 36 methods for water conservation. They will be clearly explained here as it is very important in the future," says Manohara Chary, Groundwater Harvesting Wing Head.
"Soon, a similar park will be developed in LB Nagar zone," says Satyanarayana, Director of theme park. "It is very good step taken by the government to bring awareness in people regarding rain water harvesting. Children can learn a lot about the importance of water. It will be very good if they extend these parks all over the state," said Nancy, hair dresser of La belle.
"It is a good sign of change bringing awareness in a practical manner. We are wasting a lot of water without our knowledge. At an average we are using nearly 100 litres of water while having a shower which can be reduced to 20 litres, if we use a bucket. I hope, we will have a change after getting some awareness through them," says Shiva Prasad, a driver in Ola Cabs.
