Kukatpally: Over 200 vegetable vendors who stay put under the Kukatpally Bridge have an option to shift to the new Rythu Bazaar at Yellama Banda but are reluctant stating lack of business as the reason. The vendors have been selling vegetables under the bridge for the last one year due to the renovation of the JNTU Rythu Bazaar.

"The area which officials are asking us to move to is located far away from the common public and we tried going there before a week, but there was not even a single customer," says Mallemma, a vendor. Vendors say, "We may not be comfortable here, but get customers, but we are worried about the rainy season as we have no storage facilities."

Sudhakar, Executive Officer, Kukatpally Rythu Bazaar, says, "We suggested that vendors move to the other Rythu Bazaar in Yellama Banda but they have refused. We are even providing a transport facility for their stock."

Officials say the Rythu Bazaars at Yellama Banda and JNTU if fully occupied there would be no problem and people also would eventually get used to visiting these places. The new Rythu Bazar at Yellamma Banda can accommodate 81 vendors.

"We are not being able to carry out our business properly at the time of rain as rain water stagnation causes huge problem for movement of customers/buyers and also creates untidiness of vegetables put for sale," said some local vegetable vendors.
