Hyderabad: During the ongoing festival, pages of the Quran were reportedly used in the making of firecrackers, resulting in verses from the holy Quran being scattered among the crackers when they burst. Following the complaint, Musheerabad police booked a case against a cracker manufacturer for insulting the religious sentiments of a community for using certain holy verses on crackers.
Eyewitnesses on the scene said they were astonished when they discovered verses from the Quran amidst the firecrackers. According to the eyewitness who described the incident, when they picked up the crackers and discovered Quranic verses on them, they were astounded. According to a viral video, a child in Musheerabad bought crackers from a store nearby and discovered Arabic letters on the crackers while he broke them. They turned out to be verses from the Quran when he took a closer look.
The Muslim youth collected the firecrackers containing the Quranic verses and proceeded to the Musheerabad police station to file a complaint. Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson, Mohammed Amjedullah Khan said, “We went to the police station along with the evidence, and the police promised us action.”
Amjedullah filed a complaint with the local police, alleging that a local vendor who runs a small shop in front of the Ek Minar Masjid in Musheerabad was selling crackers rolled on paper with Quranic verses.
He demanded strict action against the cracker manufacturer based in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, and the local seller for insulting the religious sentiments of the community.
The incident has sparked outrage among the Muslim community. The local public gathered in front of Musheerabad police station and staged a protest. Police have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and those responsible for the desecration of the Quranic verses will face legal consequences. “We registered a case and collected the cracker samples from the nearby shop,” said E Jahangeer Yadav, inspector at Musheerabad police station.
