Khammam: RDO asks cops to book criminal cases against TNGO Housing Society members

Khammam: Police were asked to book criminal cases against 16 members of TNGO's Cooperative Housing Society following allegations of encroachment of government land.

Khammam in-charge RDO Satyanarayana said that following an enquiry report given by a four-member committee, it was recommended to book cases against 16 key members of the society's management committee worked so far.

It should be noted here that 103.26 acres of government land in Edulagudem and Danavaigudem villages of Khammam rural mandal were allotted to the society in 2005. It was alleged that 8.39 acres of this land was encroached by the society.

An extent of 4.13 acres in Khammam urban mandal and 4.26 acres in Khammam rural mandal was said to have been encroached during the tenure of three executive committees of the society served in the past.

It might be recalled that District Collector RV Karnan on September 8 ordered an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the allotment of house sites by violating norms, following a complaint to the Collector by the society members.

He set up a four-member committee to probe into the matter by conducting joint inspection of the disputed land. The committee submitted a detailed report recently ascertaining that the society has indeed encroached the government land. In-charge RDO Suryanarayana stated that Khammam urban and rural police were asked to book the cases under relevant ections based on the enquiry report.

However, Society president E Srinivasa Rao denied the charges and said there were no irregularities in house sites allotment and everything was done as per the society guidelines and the law.
