Vijayawada: Machilipatnam police on Friday served notice to TDP leader and former minister Kollu Ravindra in connection with the attack by a mason B Nageswara Rao on transport minister Perni Venkatramaiah alias Nani at his residence on November 30.

Bandar DSP M Ramesh Reddy visited the residence of Ravindra and served notice under Section 91 of CrPc summoning him to the office of the Bandar DSP. The police earlier registered a case against Nagenswara Rao under the Section 307 of the IPC with the crime number 126/20/20. Perni Nani escaped unhurt in the attack.

The mason had attacked him with trowel in the stomach. Some local YSRCP leaders alleged that the TDP leaders were behind the attack on the minister. On the other hand, Ravindra made it clear that he has no connection with the attack on Nani.

Later, the DSP has convinced the former minister to visit the DSP office. Former MP and TDP leader Konakalla Narayana and other leaders expressed solidarity with Kollu Ravindra and visited his residence in Machilipatnam.
