A man, accused in the murder of nine-year-old Deekshith Reddy of Mahabubabad attempted suicide by putting his fingers in a fuse box at Warangal central jail on Tuesday. The incident came to fore on Wednesday.

Manda Sagar was an undertrial prisoner in the jail in kidnap and murder case of Deekshith Reddy took place in October this year.

The jail superintendent said that Sagar was put in high-security barracks when he came out around 3.30 pm. "While returning to barracks, he removed the fuse at the starter box of the borewell and put his fingers. He was then thrown by the high-voltage and lost his consciousness for about 10 minutes," he said.

The accused was shifted to MGM hospital for treatment. The condition of the man recovered after an hour, however, he was put in observation at the hospital. Meanwhile, the jail officials lodged a complaint with Matwada police on the suicide attempt of Manda Sagar.
