Bengaluru: Youth Congress workers staged a protest on Wednesday, outside the resort in Bengaluru where 19 Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs are staying. All the MLAs holed up in the resort had sent their resignations to the Speaker of MP assembly on Tuesday. Congress workers staged a protest outside the resort as they were prevented from going inside by policemen posted outside the place.

Congressmen tried to reach out to the MLAs in the resort, but heavy security was deployed to prevent visitors from entering the premises. Party seniors in Bhopal are reportedly in contact with some of them and are trying to reach out to others as well, according to media reports.

19 MLAs of the Madhya Pradesh assembly sent their resignations to the MP assembly Speaker after the exit of senior leader, former Union Minister and four-term MP, Jyotiraditya Scindia. In a related development, other Congress MLAs from MP have been shifted to Jaipur where Congress is in power. The BJP has also shifted its MLAs to ITC Grand Hotel in Gurugram of Haryana.

Jyotiraditya Scindia's exit from the Congress has thrown the party into a turmoil, seriously threatening the survival of the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh. Analysts point out that it could have a ripple effect on the generation rift in other states including Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is set to join the BJP on Wednesday afternoon, is likely to be offered a Rajya Sabha seat and a cabinet berth in PM Modi's ministry.
