The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue new "greenish yellow" Rs 20 currency notes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series, the central bank said.

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue new "greenish yellow" Rs 20 currency notes in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series, the central bank said.

The new Rs 20 notes will bear signature of the Reserve Bank's governor Shaktikanta Das.

"The base colour of the note is Greenish Yellow. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse," the RBI said.

"The new (Rs 20) denomination has motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage," it added.

Here are some other details of the new Rs 20 notes:

Front: (1) See through register with denominational numeral 20.

This is the small floral design printed both on the front (hollow) and back (filled up) of the note in the middle of the vertical band next to the watermark has an accurate back to back registration.

The design will appear as one floral design when seen against the light.

(2) Denominational numeral 20 in 'Devnagari' and the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi will at the centre.

(3) Micro letters 'RBI', 'BHARAT' (in Hindi), 'INDIA' and '20' along with windowed demetalised security thread with inscriptions 'BHARAT' and RBI.

(4)Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (20) watermarks and number panel with numerals growing from small to big on the top left side and bottom right side.
